The world is a different place nowadays
Things have changed due to obvious reasons, and in many ways they’ve changed for good
People are working from home, industries have morphed completely, we’ve lost access to certain things we loved while gaining access to others that never existed before. We’ve had to adapt and it was seemingly forced upon us at the drop of a dime.
The health, wellness and fitness industry is no different than any other these days. We were pretty much shut down without warning. And even worse, in a lot of places it went something like this…
- shut down
- open back up with restrictions
- shut down again
- reopen outside
- shut down again
The result of this? Tens of thousands of gym closures, hundreds of thousands of trainers out of business and an uncountable number of gym advocates and novices who just wanted to like what they see when they look in the mirror – and those numbers are just in the US. Globally we’re talking outrageous numbers
Luckily there’s another way that most people either don’t know exists… or have never taken advantage of
Online coaching
I’ve been doing this a while now and I gotta tell you, online clients tend to yield better results than in person clients… sounds crazy, I know
Online coaching, especially in the day and age we are in today, offers so much value. Your average individual these days is going through some shit. People are feeling fat, lonely, depressed and they have no plan or hope in sight to get them out of this deep ditch they found themselves in. Online coaching can help these people who lost access to gyms and feel they have no way to dig themselves out of this hole.
This relatively new way of coaching, at least the way it should be, is comprehensive, tailored, unrelenting and provides accountability, support, structure and an overall approach to fitness that in person personal training falls short with. Mindset and habit coaching – to get to the root cause of why you’ve been spinning your wheels forever – is also a welcomed component.
In person clients tend to come into the session ready to kick ass and take names, get stronger, feel great and go back home. Then they proceed to do whatever the hell they want the rest of the week. You see them 2-3x/week and when they aren’t with you, you’re hoping they come back with good reports. Often times, however, they’ll come back saying they partied, ate whatever, and body composition is back in the shitter
Online coaching, when done right, doesn’t allow this nonsense. A good coach is on your ass DAILY, holding you accountable and making sure the necessary tasks get done to move the needle and to get you to the desired result
The only caveat – you need to take advantage of this situation and know what your coach provides.
When you hire any online coach you need to utilize them. Reach out to them when you’re struggling with something.
Question on the food you’re eating? Send a picture
Not sure about the form for your squat? Send a video
Struggling with meal proportions or selections? Bring it up to them immediately
Get that feedback you need to avoid making the wrong decision
Even a great coach isn’t a mind reader and needs you to be present in the situation. Help them help you. When nothing gets mentioned and you aren’t learning to implement, everyone is screwed.
Online coaching, as with anything else, has different options based on what you desire and what your budget looks like:
- Low ticket, low support
- Mid ticket, moderate support
- High ticket, high support
Know what you need and what resources you have at your disposal when researching the coach that’s right for you.
At it’s best, online coaching can be an amazing thing. It allows you to be catered to throughout the process, have a solid plan to follow and the support to guide you there every step of the way (depending on what service you select). At it’s worst, you’ll get a workout plan that doesn’t fit your body or your needs and leaves you in the same place you started. That’s why research is key so you can maximize potential.
The beauty is, in the messed up world we’re living in these days, you can maximize your potential from the comfort of your home. Hell, I have clients who have zero equipment and they are making consistent progress. The more stuff you have, the better (everyone likes variety and extra resistance), but it’s doable to transform your body inside and out with just you and gravity.
Would you look at that? The excuse you’ve been using this last year as to why you’ve been falling apart is now null and void. Do yourself a favor, go do some research on who is best suited to help YOU get it together and pull the trigger. The last thing you’ll do is regret it and the first thing you’ll do is start to love what you see in the mirror again.
